SOL goes to Midnight Dream

I rounded up my SOLmates and took them down to a fun tourney to kick off the summer. Midnight Dream in Whitewater, WI.

As teammates from all over WI and MN showed up...some early, some on time, some late....we went 2-1 on Friday night, ending play in the wee hours of the a.m. On Saturday, we went an undefeated 3-0, winning two hard games (vs. Luther/Luther-alum and Kablammo) to win the championship for the second year in a row.

Congrats and thanks to all the SOL players/alum who made it possible!

SOL Plays Club

Going through SOL withdrawls? You can catch many of us at club tourneys throughout the summer and fall!

Robyn Fennig (#44), Anna Hettler (#2), Jaime Glader (alum) Pat Niles (Coach) are all playing co-ed with Dragon Thrust from the Twin Cities, MN. Martha Harris (#10) and Brit Gartner (#11) are playing co-ed with Oh Boy! from the Twin Cities, MN. Taylor Jenkins (#42) is organizing a co-ed team in Austin, MN. Jess Haller (#1) and Katelyn Mater (alum) will be playing with NURD again for the series.

Robyn's also organizing the Eau Cleazy Powerbottom for another summer. The ECPB won Midnight Dream in Whitewater, WI for the second consecutive year! We're still looking for more SOLmates to play at Mad Disc On (August 1-2) in Madison, WI.

Many of our players and former players are picking up with teams, such as Kablammo, Madtown Boozehounds, Spirit Fowl, etc. for local tourneys.

Lots of our girls are playing summer leagues in their hometowns and organizing pick-up too!

Look for some hot pink and black on an ultimate field near you!

P.S. Best of luck to a fast recovery for Hannah Jones (alum) who had ACL surgery a few weeks back. Your SOLmates love you!

All-Region Voting 2009

Congrats to Robyn Fennig and Anna Hettler for being named 1st Team All-Region and 2nd Team All Region, respectively for the 2009 season.

Anna Hettler
2nd Team Central Region
Anna Hettler may be one of the most under-rated players in college ultimate. Many people remember Anna as the player who dominated others in 2007 Regionals with
one hand, and the other wrapped up tight, just 24 hours after having surgery on her thumb. Anna Hettler has been playing for SOL since fall 2005. She started out as a handler that fall, but was quickly moved to cutter where she began to excel. Anna works hard in and out of practice to be the best athlete she can be, in order to contribute in any way she possibly can to the team. Today, she is a team defensive leader, getting more hand blocks than anyone else. Her huge mark is advantageous in the many zone defenses that SOL utilizes to their advantage. She is big in the air, and is a play-maker. Plus she has awesome throws. He makes sick lay-out grabs, gets up and has a huge smile on her face. She is a threat in all facets of the game. A co-captain from the 2008-2009 season, she was re-elected to serve again next season. She is a driving force for SOL's success, and she has another year to play. Look for major improvement from her next year: look out, she will be scary good.
