With the all region voting is just around the corner. And let's be honest, our very own BRIT Gartner has a good shot at winning that coveted "freshman of the year" category for the Central Region.
After rocking some other noobs in the Centex Rookie showcase game, Brit is the epitome of "freshman of the year."
Brit came into college with NO ultimate frisbee experience. In fact, she never really heard of the game. From September to the present, Brit has been a huge driving force to SOL's success. She has developed throws, plays ridiculous defense, and has the field awareness of a veteran on the field. She is fast, can break a mark like no one's business. She works hard to improve every day, both inside and outside of practice. She's a force to be reckoned with on the field, there is no denying it. She is also a reason for the spread of the hot pink SOL spray paint tats. :)
Her dedication to the game is phenomenal. She is a real student of the game, constantly looking for ways to improve her game. I think that the fact that 8 months ago, she could not throw or read a disc and now she's competing with nationals caliber teams and standing out. I think that a true FOTY, is a rookie to the game, not someone who has played ultimate for years in high school before she starts. Brit works hard, contributes, and makes a difference.
